Basket Review No. 99: Fish and Chicken Shack

Hello there, fam, and welcome to the 99th installment of the Basket Review!

For this one, I checked out a spot I’ve been wanting to hit for months — Fish and Chicken Shack in north Fargo.

You might want to sit down for this — but the menu revolves around various types of chicken and fish. Being me, I had to get the tenders my first go around, but I shall return to further explore the menu.

These tenders were pretty standard, but the salt was on point, and they were hot and fresh, so that boosted them. The fries were the same story. It wasn’t any sort of special fry, but they were cooked to the ideal point and crispiness with plenty of salt.

The ranch wasn’t the best, but it came in a big, awesome tinfoil tub, which I respected. I can’t say I’ve ever been served ranch in a vessel like that.

Overall, I’ll give this chicken strip basket a 7.5. It wasn’t crazy, but everything was fried exactly how I like it and there was a good amount of salt and crispiness all around.

BONUS pizza puff review:

I was going to get a side of jalapeño poppers to try an additional item, but the guy who took my order recommended this pizza puff. So I opted for that instead and he was right, the pizza puff was delicious. It was something like a really good hot pocket; a crispy exterior with delicious, molten meat, cheese and sauce inside. I destroyed it on the drive home and didn’t photograph. I’m sorry.

I need to return to Fish and Chicken Shack to try some wings, fried chicken and seafood. It was one of those places where as soon as I walked in, my initial thought was “Yeah, I bet some really good food flies out of this kitchen.”

That’s all I got for ya. Thank you for being here for 99 versions of me rambling about chicken tenders. I appreciate all of you. Much love and take care.
