For Basket Review numero nueve, I ventured to downtown Fargo to try a place recommended multiple times to me, Pounds.
I had never previously walked into this bar’s door with the intention of ordering food, but that had to change.
This chicken strip basket was probably the most generous portion I’ve had so far, with five strips and enough fries to feed MSUM’s football team.
It contained pretty basic strips, but they were nice quality and decently crispy. The fries were also fairly generic, but were perfectly crunchy with the ideal amount of salt.
Tying the basket together were two outstanding cups of sauce; one containing ranch and the other with a Dr. Pepper BBQ sauce. As y’all know, I cannot and will not take extra sauce into consideration; but I do appreciate it, Pounds. The ranch was wonderful and though the BBQ didn’t factor into the score, it was top-shelf.
As I previously mentioned, the strips and fries were pretty basic, but they were done as well as I can hope for, which elevated them. Overall, I give Pounds’ basket a 7.2.
It wasn’t a basket to write home about; however, it was a generous portion, solid all around and I would certainly order it again. 7.2.
