Hello. Hi. Welcome back. Are you ready to get your mind blown?
Well, nothing below is really mind-blowing by any measure. But you should read it anyway.
There was some bad weather in Fargo this week, including subzero temperatures, and wind gusts up to 50 miles per hour and wind chills of minus-45 on Wednesday. Local high schools and colleges cancelled school already on Tuesday night.
So what did I do? I braved the elements and got a chicken strip basket. That’s what I did. The chicken strip game never sleeps.
I drove to LongHorn Steakhouse in Fargo. I’ve had good luck with the one steak house I reviewed prior to that. Texas Roadhouse has one of the highest-rated chicken strip baskets I’ve had.
These weren’t quite elite, but they were tasty. The chicken was juicy and high in quality, surrounded by a thin, crispy breading. As I’ve mentioned, I always eat at least several bites in the parking lot before leaving when I take my food to go, in case the quality and freshness is hindered on my drive home. The piping-hot initial bites weren’t that much better than when I ate the rest of the meal at home. They surprisingly survived the drive well.
For the extras — the fries and ranch were nothing to complain about. They weren’t spectacular, but the fries were seasoned nicely and fried crispy, while retaining their inner fluff. The ranch was a hair runny for my taste, but the flavor was on point.
Though it doesn’t impact the score at all, I ordered online and, like steak houses do, I was offered bread. Obviously, I said yes to the option of getting complementary bread. I expected to get like a couple buns or slices. Well, they ended up giving me an ENTIRE LOAF. FOR NO CHARGE. What a time to be alive.
I’ll give the chicken strip basket a 7.9. It was comparable to that of Texas Roadhouse, it just wasn’t quite as good. I would definitely eat them again.
Thanks for reading. Bye.
