Goooood morning! And welcome to another installment of thrilling (got em) poultry production.
I’m back with another Spicy Chicken Sandwich Showdown, which was sought out by my good friend and recurring requester Cody Middendorf (modestmorsels on Instagram). Find the written portion below and the video review at the bottom of the page.
My guy wanted a matchup of the Arby’s buffalo chicken sandwich vs. the Culver’s spicy crispy chicken sandwich — a sandwich I hadn’t previously eaten. Come to think of it, I believe the tenders are the only chicken product I’ve ever had at Culver’s, but I expected this to be pretty solid. Culver’s puts out a good product.

Both of these sandwiches were tasty. Culver’s spicy chicken sandwich has a spicy, well-seasoned chicken patty that’s accompanied by lettuce, tomato and pickles. I do wish there was a sauce to bring it together, like a spicy mayo, or even regular mayo or ranch, but it wasn’t a dire need. The chicken was flavorful, juicy and tasted fine as it came.

Arby’s buffalo chicken is something I’ve had several times in the past. A thin chicken patty is drenched in tangy buffalo sauce and finished with parmesan peppercorn ranch and shredded lettuce. When I’m jonesing for a good buffalo sauce, Arby’s isn’t where I’d expect to find my fix, but it deserves a lot of credit. Very tasty sauce. The buffalo/ranch combo on the sandwich is great, and incredibly messy. I could do without lettuce here, and would rather have it swapped out for pickles or some thinly sliced onions for taste and texture.
The chicken itself here wasn’t as good as its Culver’s counterpart, and for that reason, Culver’s takes this one by a score of 7.3-7. That spicy chicken patty is very good.
Thanks for reading and watching, and the BIGGEST thank you to Emma for filming and photographing. I’m thinking combining written and recorded reviews like this is the move. Let me know if you agree or feel strongly otherwise. Much love.
