As I’m sure you’ve heard, McDonald’s finally hopped on the spicy chicken nugget train. It’s about time.
I’ve gotten several requests to try these new spicy McNuggets, but my guy Kuz specifically asked for them to go against the classic spicy nuggets from Wendy’s.
My big takeaway was the spicy McNuggets replace that hint of sweet that comes with the regular McNuggets, with a bit of spice. And I’m a fan of it. They still have that same McNugget batter that seems to stay crispy no matter what, it’s spicy.
Along with a new chicken nugget, McDonald’s rolled out a new condiment, Mighty Hot Sauce. This spicy sidekick ramped up the heat a bit and went nicely with the milder nuggets.
The one criticism I will always have with the McDonald’s nuggets is they’re a bit on the chewy side. I like to have the initial crunch and then some soft, juicy chicken in the middle. McNuggets are always just a bit chewy for my taste. But, nonetheless, the new spicy nuggets are a success.
Up against this newcomer in the spicy nugget game, is the classic and always delicious Wendy’s spicy chicken nuggets.
Wendy’s nuggets shine where the McNuggets do not. I would give McDonald’s a slight, slight edge for its batter, but the Wendy’s nuggets have juicier, better quality meet. It’s like the standard for spicy chicken nuggets.
Overall, I’ll give Wendy’s a slight edge, 7.4-7.2. The quality and texture of the chicken gave Wendy’s a slight boost. I will say, though, you gotta try the new McNuggets and Mighty Hot Sauce. Tell me if they’re better than the original.
