Good afternoon, friends. I’ve been having chicken sandwich blog withdrawals lately, so here we are with the latest rendition of the Chicken Sandwich showdown.
Culver’s and Dairy Queen. Two fast food, frozen treat icons. I’m from a small town, and we had the three community pillars that hold every small town together in unity: Casey’s, Subway and Dairy Queen. Great stuff. Obviously, there’s far better food out there, and that was even the case 20 feet away from our Dairy Queen, but you gotta love the small-town charm.
I will die on the hill that both Dairy Queen and Culver’s are underrated from a food standpoint. The ice cream is widely and rightfully loved, but the actual food doesn’t get the credit it deserves. I’m a big fan of both menus.
That being said, I don’t recall previously eating a regular chicken sandwich at either of these establishments.
Full disclosure, I didn’t love this video. I can’t put a specific reason on why, but I just felt off recording it. So my apologies. I’ll do better next time.
Entering, I thought Culver’s (pictured below) was going to have a slight edge, because I think overall it’s a bit better than DQ. Its sandwich contained lettuce, tomato and pickles. I was kind of surprised to find no sauce, which would’ve helped it out. It wasn’t a good enough chicken patty that could really carry a sandwich without a sauce to go with it. The chicken was decent in quality, but a hair dry. The breading could’ve used a little more seasoning, as well.

Dairy Queen’s crispy chicken sandwich came with lettuce, tomato and mayo. It had the opposite problem as its counterpart — there was too much mayo. My hand was a mess after taking just one bite. The chicken was thicker than that of Culver’s and had a more flavorful breading. As mentioned in the video, this one felt slightly more processed, but had a small edge in the flavor department.

For those reasons, DQ pulls this one out just barely at 6.0-5.8. These were both pretty standard for a fast food sandwich. Not fantastic, not bad.
I’ve got a bunch of requests to get through, so I’ll be back in a couple days, don’t worry. Thanks for watching.
