Rating the NEW Chick-fil-A spicy sandwich

Hi, hello and welcome. Thanks for dropping in. The beloved Chick-fil-A has dropped a new spicy chicken sandwich … a grilled spicy chicken sandwich.

When a restaurant with the pull and popularity of Chick-fil-A drops a new product, I have to check it out. Especially when the words “spicy” and “chicken” are involved.

Video below, more words after the video.

It’s an overall good sandwich. The spicy grilled sandwich comes with the deluxe loadout — lettuce, tomato and cheese. There was also a packet of cilantro lime sauce in the bag, so I assumed that was supposed to go on the sandwich.

The chicken had, I’ll say, a nearly ideal heat level. I enjoy spice and this was just enough to make my tongue tingle. The cilantro lime sauce added a nice little bite, while the cheese and tomato added a good texture and flavor balance.

It’s a viable item if you’re looking for something a little healthier, but with some kick, on the go. I’m a crispy chicken guy through and through, but was surely satisfied with this grilled sandwich.

My gripe with the sandwich’s setup was the extras; specifically, the quantity of the extras. Lettuce and tomato on a grilled chicken sandwich are ideal fixings. Crisp, fresh lettuce and a juicy slice of tomato compliments a grilled piece of chicken beautifully. HOWEVER, there was far too much lettuce and one too many tomatoes on the sandwich. Cut the lettuce down by like 40% and give me just one slice of tomato — golden.

The flavors were all there, though, so I won’t let the garden assault bury the score here. It’s still a good, refreshing, flavorful and kind of healthy sandwich. And that is worthy of a 7.2 A strong effort.
