Dieting tips from someone on a weight-loss journey: combining eggs and pizza

FAM, hello. Let’s continue throwing down some healthy food and getting that diet off the ground and running.

As I mentioned in my first dieting tips post, eggs or egg whites are something I always have in stock due to them being so low in calories and high in protein.

On the other end of the spectrum, pizza is one of my favorite foods and I’d eat it four times a week if I could. I wanted to combine these two things to see how it turned out.

So, I present to you, the egg white pizza.

It was tasty and very easy to make. Start off with pouring a cup of egg whites into a nonstick pan on medium heat, or if you’re using whole eggs, act like you’re making an omelette.

I covered the eggs and let them get mostly set, then added half a cup of fat-free mozzarella cheese. It’s enough of a low-calorie dish that you can easily get away with full-fat cheese, though.

Then, add one serving of turkey pepperoni, which comes out to 15 pepperonis. Once the toppings are applied, cover back up until the cheese is melted. Remove the lid, add a dash of oregano and some crushed red pepper flakes for a bit of heat, if you desire.

I skipped the pizza sauce and instead opted to finish this thing off with a couple tablespoons of habanero salsa, which was a nice touch.

The dish came out to about 285 calories, 51 grams of protein and nine grams of carbs. I just did pepperoni to keep it basic and that’s what I had on hand, but make it however you want. Throw on some turkey sausage, maybe some bacon or turkey bacon, onions, green peppers. It’s a “pizza,” make it to your taste.

I paired this thing with a protein smoothie and the entire meal came out to 515 calories, 75 grams of protein and 29 grams of carbs. I was full for hours after eating it.

That’s all I’ve got today — THANK YOU to everyone who’s been tuning in. I’m having a lot of fun posting these tips and meal ideas so far. Much love and take care of yourselves.
