Basket Review No. 98: Camp Lone Tree

Greetings and salutations, fam.

Welcome to the 98th installment of the Basket Review. For this one, I hit Camp Lone Tree, which is part of 701 Eateries in Fargo.

One of the first things I noticed about the food was how fresh it was. The fries, and especially the chicken strips, were piping hot until the last bite, which I always have an appreciation for.

The strips boasted a solidly crispy exterior and a juicy interior. I would’ve enjoyed a bit more seasoning, but overall, they were strong tenders.

I didn’t expect waffle fries to be the type of fry included, but was I glad that’s what I got. Waffle fries, for me, are fries in their best form. They were crispy, salty enough and still retained a fluffy interior.

With the basket came a side of delicious ranch with an ideal consistency. It wasn’t too runny, but not too solid, either. I was a big fan.

Overall, this was a strong effort to which I gave a 7.7. A good, fresh chicken strip basket that I’d be cool with eating any day of the week.

This doesn’t factor into the score, but Camp Lone Tree has a nice ambiance. It takes up the upstairs portion of 701 Eateries, and has cozy inside seating options and an outdoor deck with igloos to dine inside. I didn’t take the igloo option, but instead opted for the bar, which featured some of the most comfortable bar chairs I’ve ever sat in. Big props for those.

That’s all I’ve got today. Thank you all for reading. Much love and take care of yourselves.
