Basket Review No. 84: Some more Perdue frozen tenders

Good afternoon and welcome back to Thrills (yeah, I’m trying to make that catch on). I hope you are safe, healthy and longing to read about food that isn’t so healthy.

I dipped back into the Perdue frozen chicken strip fountain and tried Perdue frozen crispy chicken strips, pairing them with Ore-Ida zesty curly fries.

Judging from the title and look of the product, these look like straight-forward chicken strips. Spoiler alert: they are.

The strips were just average across the board. The breading was standard and thick, with a crunch and flavor that was OK, but not great. The meat itself was fine. It wasn’t great quality, but wasn’t bad.

What I thought was strange, was these were entirely different from the Perdue Simply Smart tenders I ate a few reviews ago. There was not one similarity. The breading and meat were both completely different. The shape of the tenders are not even close to similar. I thought their paths would cross somewhere, but they didn’t.

The curly fries were just regular curly fries, which I enjoy. The crisp outside and the seasoning were both solid.

I again stepped outside the box with my condiment choice and grabbed a bottle of Frank’s Red Hot Buffalo and Ranch Thick Sauce. My goodness is this sauce good. I’ve been eating it with everything. The ranch wasn’t overpowering, so the buffalo flavor still came through strong, which is why I liked it so much. I wouldn’t rank it quite as high as the spicy ranch sauce from Hidden Valley, but it’s not far behind.

Overall, I didn’t like these as much as the other Perdue tenders. I’ll go flat 5 on these. Just average. Nothing stood out other than the incredible buffalo ranch sauce.

Thank you for reading. I’ll be back with another post later this week. Take care and much love.
