Hello and welcome to another week of THRILLing content (ha, OK, I’ll escort myself out).
I put a couple polls up on my Twitter yesterday to see what the restaurant preference would be for this week’s blogs.
I like you guys. You get me. Local restaurants all the way.
So, I scrolled through a list of local places at like 3 a.m. and wound up at SouthTown PourHouse in south Fargo to grab some takeout for lunch today.
And, boy, am I glad I made that decision. These chicken tenders were upper echelon. The menu described them as “fresh, juicy and hand breaded to order.” That’s what I like to hear. That’s how you attract people to your restaurant.
These were great from start to finish and lived up to the expectations. They aced the first test, the eye test, had great crunch, and within the crispy breading was juicy, high-quality white meat chicken. The outer seasoning had a little spice to it, which is what put them over the top. I love me some spice.
Accompanying these elite chicken strips were some pretty basic and well-seasoned shoestring fries. I should’ve opted for the waffle fries, because I’m a waffle fries guy, but I guess I was just feeling classic today.
For my sauce, I opted for the PourHouse signature house sauce and it was very good. I wouldn’t quite put it on the same level as a Chick-fil-A sauce, but it’s in the family. It was very good.
Overall, this basket was a 9.2. The chicken was excellent and the complementary items were solid. I need to go back to this bar and explore the menu, but I’m not sure how I will order anything other than the chicken tenders.
With that score, it is my honor to crown SouthTown PourHouse the new king of chicken strips in Fargo-Moorhead. Only Raising Cane’s ranks higher on my list (so far).
Thanks for reading and thanks for voting. I’ll have a local Chicken Sandwich Showdown for you tomorrow or Friday. Much love and take care. 9.2.
